To Mr. Rind, Thou dear uninfluenced piece of benignity. I
herewith send thee, for the exercise of thy wonted goodness
to all, a piece of which thus fell into my hands. You must
know, that I, Crambe, in one of these serene moonshiny
nights, have rambled abroad to star gaze in the heavens for
rhymes or clinks; whilst I was filling my budget with all
the gingles that I could collect, by chance cast my eye on a
packet containing the following poem.
TO THE EAST, A REPLICATION FROM THE GodDESS DULNESS, TO T.B.
A BARD, OF MODERN NOTE, IN THE EAST.
Welcome my son, to this compos'd shade;
Where none approach, but those dispos'd to nod.
My par'mour bathos, in love's intercourse
Promised a rhyming genius much like yours.
